ショルダーバッグ用真田紐と二連角組 Sanadahimo for a shoulder bag and a hanging braid of double kakugumi

夏のショルダーバッグを作りました。肩ひもは真田紐でコットンキング47本で幅23mm。真ん中の釣り紐は二連角組（AADD）、コットンキングで14ループです。青い生地は例によってカーテン生地です。釣り紐に取り付けたのは、ダッフルコート用のボタン。水色の透けるポケットは夏帯の生地です。
手持ちの材料を使って、思い描いたようにでき上がって、満足です。

This is a shoulder bag I made for summer.  The shoulder belt is Sanadahimo with 47 Cotton King threads.  The width is 23mm.  The hanging braid in the middle is a Double Kakugumi (AADD) with 14 loops of Cotton King.  The blue material is, as always, curtain fabric.  Attached to the code-end is a button for duffle coat.  

I am very happy that the bag is finished as I wanted using the materials in hand.

母とコラボ第2弾 Collaboration with Mother No. 2

リビングのレースカーテンが傷んで来たので、新調することにしました。カーテン屋さんへ行くと、ワゴンにカーテンの端切れがいっぱいあって、備えてあるビニール袋に入るだけ入れて500円ということでした。カーテン地はしっかりしていてバッグに丁度いい厚さです。ホクホク顔で帰ってくると、母がその中から気に入った生地を見つけて、ショルダーバッグに仕立てました。私は「紐は私にお任せ」と言って、唐組のサンプルを2つ作ったのですが、母が、「地味すぎる」と言って、OKがでません。それでは真田紐はどうでしょうと作ったものが合格でした。

これまで作った真田紐を並べてみました。市松模様も飽きてきたので、今回は雑誌で見た縦縞にしてみました。雑誌では男物の下駄の鼻緒に使っていたものです。なかなかきりっと素敵に仕上がりました。

Our living room curtains are worn out and we have decided to order new ones.  At a curtain shop, there was a wagon-full of curtain fabric remnants.  It costs 500 yen for a small plastic-bagful. Curtain fabrics make good bags. I stuffed the fabric as much as I could.  I came home smiling.  My mother chose one of them and made a shoulder bag with it.  I offered to make a belt and made two Karakumi samples.  She does not accept them saying “They are too quiet.”  Then I made a Sanadahimo, which she liked.

These are the Sanadahimo I have made.  I am getting tired of checkerboard patterns, so I made a stripe that I once saw in a magazine.  In the magazine, the braid was used as sandal thong for men.  I liked the sharpness of the pattern.

真田紐にビーズ Sanadahimo with beads

真田紐のベルトです。両端の経糸にビーズを通して組みました。結ぶ部分は角組で、ここにもビーズを組み込んでいます。ビーズは紐を豪華に見せてくれる上に、思いがけない効用がありました。紐が汚れるのを防いでくれるのです。次は、素敵なバックルを見つけたいと思っています。

使用材料：　コットンキング、TOHO丸大ビーズ

These are Sanadahimo belts.  I put beads through both of the outermost warps and braided.  The both ends are Kakugumi and I used beads here as well.  I love beads!  They make my braids not only look gorgeous but also dirt-proof!  Next time, I would like to find a nice buckle.

バッグ用持ち手真田紐 Sanadahimo for bag handles

プレゼント用のバッグを作りました。本体はヤフオクで買った２種類のワイン色の帯地です。かっちりとできあがりました。持ち手はコットンキングで組んだ真田紐です。経糸４２本で組んだのですが、もう少し幅が欲しかったです。長さも85%に縮みました。データを蓄積して、思う通りの幅と長さに仕上げられるようになりたいと思います。

真田紐の裏に、底に使った帯地（母のバッグの残り）を当てています。これは持ち手の幅を出したかったのと、手に持った時に絹の帯地の方が手触りが良いだろうと思ったからです。帯地はバッグにとても良い素材だと思います。時々ヤフオクを見てクリックしています。

A bag for my friend as a present.  The body is made with 2 different wine-colour obi-sashes I got through Yahoo Auction.  I am satisfied with the structured body.  The handles are Sanadahimo I braided with 42 Cotton King warps, which turned out to be narrower than I had expected.  The length also shrunk by 15%.  I am going to accumulate the data so that I can make Sanadahimo as wide and long as I plan. 

On the back of the Sanadahimo handles I attached the sash material I used for the bottom part (left-over from my mother’s bag) .  That is because I wanted to widen the handles and also I thought the silk material would make the handles feel softer.   Obi-sash for kimono is an excellent material for bags.  I sometimes visit Yahoo Auction and click.

真田紐の持ち手 Bag with Sanadahimo handles

真田紐でバッグの持ち手といえば、昨年６月に作ったバッグがあるのでアップします。本体は黄色い博多帯の生地に、底はカーテン屋さんへ行った時に端切がどれも１００円で山積みしていた中からいくつか買ったものの一つです。遮光カーテンです。持ち手には真田紐を組みました。紐だけでも良かったのですが、遮光カーテンで作った紐を重ねています。

Speaking of a bag with Sanadahimo handles, I made a bag last June.  The body is made of Hakata-obi material and the bottom part is made of a material which I bought at a curtain shop.  They had a pile of odd size curtain materials for 100 yen each.  This one is a block-out drape.  The handles are Sanadahimo.  Sanadahimo alone were good enough, but I backed them up with the block-out drape material.

母が帯地でバッグを作るというので、色を合わせて真田紐を組みました。

真田紐はしっかりしていて、バッグの持ち手に重宝します。

伝統的な真田紐は横糸を一方から入れるそうです。

私は双方から横糸を入れる方法を習いました。

初心者としては、双方から入れて両手で引っ張ると、しっかりと均一に引き締まるので、こちらの方法がやりやすいです。

一方から入れる方法も習ってみたいです。

My mother said she would make a bag with an obi material.  So I made a Sanadahimo belt to match her rose color bag.  Sanadahimo is strong and ideal for a bag belt.  The traditional way is to insert the weft one way, but I learned to do so from both sides, which is easier for me as a beginner because I can tighten the warp threads by pulling the two wefts with both hands.  But I am also interested in doing it one way.
